and for Free, it's very difficult to resist.

It's probably a very good Editor to use, even with HDR ( and Ordinary video ), since it will be a useful entry to Pro circles.

the BM doesn't "throw away" any data which ordinary recordings do. What I pointed out was this ( re-read Post). It's Free, but requires a 64-bit OS.Īlso, it's very suited to low-contrast media, I gave the example of BlackMagic cameras in their Pro-Mode - this does produce a very flat / insipid result - but in the Edit folks can spend hours fiddling to get just the right colours/contrast. sadly it may depend on the quality of the clips you input. + It should put you a bit further ahead of the crowd.

However, if you'd like a career in movie-making, then learning Resolve free-software is a very good entry - compared with the Subscription models so many other software houses are going for. the great Public doesn't want fully-crafted movies that ( perhaps?), the likes of us are striving to make - look at the numbers of under 30yr Movie-making Club Members.

and it seems that camera-phones have the winning formula. If you want to make a film, then it has to satisfy a genre that is somewhat Alien to me - but one cannot ignore it if that's yr business. I f you take some outrageous short-event, folks will watch it. I agree with rogs that fewer folk are learning about Editing - but maybe with the Cloud they don't need to. but that's almost Universal in "get-it-out" Software anyway. and I doubt they really field-trialled their releases to help improve the product. but IMHO Sony really didn't do such a good job that their software writers were capable of. only snag is it may be too much to keep on top of. This is a massive boost to the Magix offerings. but they are claiming( =good), they will maintain prior-purchase relations. Sony has a subscription offering, possibly Catalyst - but I never discovered if I wanted it, such is the self-promo publicity.Īs to Vegas et al. more and more people simply take video on their phones, 'press the button' and upload their Hollywood masterpiece online, as it is.(no editing - "looks OK to me mate" type of attitude)ĭVDs are starting to disappear, and recordable Blu-ray has never made it to critical mass for cheap consumer use. I don't think there are anything like the volume of sales there used to be for consumer video editing products.

Will they choose to follow Adobe and go to a monthly subscription model, or will they continue to try and 'sell' products against those now offering some pretty 'pro' spec systems for free - like Resolve?Īnd will they continue with both Vegas and Magix consumer editors?

It's going to be interesting to see what Sony do with Vegas, now it's part of Magix.
LIGHTWORKS PRO 12.5 REVIEW HOW TO
Absolutely superb results possible, but again you do need to spend a bit of time learning how to use them (Avisynth is often criticised for being 'unfriendly' to learn). I tend to use another 'free' route, using programs like Avisynth and Virtualdub. and you do need a pretty powerful machine (64 bit for Resolve) to get the best out of these very sophisticated programs.
